Glorifying The Father
Text: 15:1-8
We are commanded by our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, to
bear fruit. Jesus did not command us to produce the fruit; He said bear the
fruit. The limbs in a fruit tree bear the fruit, they
do not produce the fruit. If the branch does not bear fruit, He cuts it off:
vs. 2,6. The branches that bears fruit, He purgeth
(prunes), that it may bring forth more fruit: vs.2. Now, there are three stages
of fruit bearing:
I. Bearing Fruit—vs. 1-2.
A. A person has to be born again to bear fruit.
John 3:1-21.
II. Bearing More Fruit—vs. 1-2
A. A person learns to bear more fruit, by growing
in Christ. II Peter 3:18.
B. A person abides in Christ. John 15:1-8.
III. Bearing Much Fruit—vss. 5,8.
A. It is when we bear much fruit, that the Father
is glorified and there is proof that you are a disciple.
Conlusion: The Holy Spirit
produces the fruit, we only bear it. Gal. 5:22,23. The
gold Jesus got for us, is when He said in John 17:4: “I have glorified thee on
earth.”
